ZEOCHEM® Z3-03 is the Ethanol Grade Molecular Sieve to dehydrate Ethanol 99.9 % pure Ethanol.

ZEOCHEM® Z3-01 shows very good adsorption properties for moisture in liquide phase dehydration of alcohol. Usually small beads of 1-2 mm or 2-3 mm are used.

Smaller beads have generally a better (faster) kinetic, but also a slightly higher pressure drop over the molecular sieve bed.

Natural Gas Drying and purification

Oxygen production

production by PRESSURE SWING ADSORPTION (PSA)

Oxygen is produced in large volumes for many applications. Perhaps the commonest of these are in medicine and in the pulp and paper industry. There are two methods used for doing this: cryogenic and pressure swing adsorption. Pressure swing adsorption is most useful for small applications such as oxygen production in the home for asthma sufferers.

Pressure swing adsorption relies on air being filtered through aluminosilicate minerals known as zeolites. The one used for PSA oxygen has been specially designed so that nitrogen gas is adsorbed onto it while oxygen (and argon) pass straight through. The zeolite is quickly saturated with nitrogen, so two zeolite beds are usually used together, one filtering air while the other is regenerated. This process is very environmentally friendly and the technique is also potentially able to be used to remove other gases (such as CO2) from industrial waste gas streams.

ZEOCHEM® Z3-02 is used for the dehydration of unsaturated hydrocarbon gas streams in olefin crackers prior to cryogenic separation process. The same grade is also used in polyolefin plants where dehydration is required for catalyst protection.

ZEOCHEM® Z5-01 or Z4-01 is also used for the removal of methanol from gaseous streams.

LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) drying or for the drying of C3- to C6 liquids, organic solvents etc. Beads with a size of 2-3 mm are used for dehydration.

Z10-01/1-2 mm is often used where treating (sulphur compound removal) is also required.

Polyurethanes (as additives)

PURMOL® is a hydrophilic Molecular Sieve Powder

PURMOL® from Zeochem AG are molecular sieve powders and pastes which give the answer to moisture scavenging problems for a variety of applications. Types 3A and 4A are available in standard versions or synthesized and treated for special applications. (3STH and 4STH).

PURMOL® is available as Paste, including 50% castor oil

Some grades can even be used in the cosmetic field (face masks) or as additive in ointments (warming up)

Characteristics

PURMOL® adsorbents are synthetic zeolites with a complex alkali metal alumino-silicate structure.

This structure contains pore openings of regular and precisely defined size, allowing the adsorption of molecules selectively on the basis of their size and polarity.

Benefits

PURMOL® is largely used to remove moisture from polyurethane polymer systems.

PURMOL® products deal with moisture problems without causing undue problems with shelf-life viscosity etc. Other types are used as additives for selective adsorption in defined polymer systems, e.g.
